Matthew Matt James was born in North Carolina on December 5 1991. He is the father of Manny and Patty James and is of mixed race. He is the son of the Nigerian father and a Caucasian mother. He graduated in 2010 of Sanderson High School. In 2015, he earned the Bachelor of Economics degree from Wake Forest University. James was a household name when he made his screen first appearance as a reality star during The Bachelorette. James was picked in 2020 as the bachelor of the year on The Bachelor season 25, making him the first African American male star. The series premiered later that year. James would be a perfect match for the job as is tall, beautiful and humorous. Rachael Krakconnell, who James chose as his partner throughout the season. He teamed up with famous dancer Arnold for season 30 of Dancing with the Stars. James and Arnold finished 12th.
